Ultrasonic Rock Velocity Measurement in the Pressure Vessel

In valve numbers, note that there is a difference between "1" and "I": the first is an arabic "one", the other a roman "one". They will not refer to the same valve. To make this distinction more obvious, arabic 1 will always be preceded by a "number" sign "#".
We have 2 kinds of pressures in the system: pressure of fluid in sample (PP) and hydraulic pressure on sample (PC).

Behind - blue high pressure pump
High pressure+air on "on"
dump closed
valve X open

Sample installation - on pressure vessel
Release PP
Blow out tubing with N2
Place your jacketed sample on Pressure vessel
Connect fluid lines, time measurement wires and ground wires (see image below)
Use copper wire to tie everything together so nothing sticks out of perimiter of plattform
Start to vacuum sample, with the vacuum only into the green side
Check connections on oscilliscope
Add grease to O-ring in Pressure vessel
Lower outer cylinder
Rotate cylinder to engage teeth, around 30° clockwise, till notches match

Boot up system - on pressure board
Open VII
Close I
Open II
Switch III vent -> pressure
Open #3 (oil/air bleed line)
Open #1 on vessel
Open #8 below board
When oil flows through cylindrical glass, close #3
Close #1 on vessel
Open #5
Switch on pressure meter below panel (measures PC)
Open VIII
Open IX
Set desired confining pressure
Check vacuum: has it reached the vacuum gauge at yellow side yet?
Check vacuum: has it sucked out any hydraulic oil yet? (This might mean leak)

Increase pressure PC - on pressure board
Open VIII
Open IX till pressure set
DO NOT GO ABOVE 10000 PSI!
Set PP as well.

Decrease pressure PC - on pressure board
Decrease PP
Open #4

Shut down system - on pressure board
Release PP
Close IX
Close #5
Open #4
Close #8 under board
Switch III pressure -> vent
Close II
Open I
Open VIII
Open #3
Open #1 on vessel
When starts bubbling in reservoir, close #3
Close VIII
Close #4
Wait until bubbles stop, close #1 on vessel
Close I
Open II

Take off sample - on pressure vessel
Rotate cylinder to disengage teeth counterclockwise till notches match
Raise outer cylinder
Disconnet lines and wires
Remove sample
Blow out tubing w/ N2
