Kalbekov among competition winners

Congratulations to Petroleum Engineering M.S. student Arkhat Kalbekov and his team for winning the Chevron Engineering Week competition: Solutions on Making Low Carbon Operations. Kalbekov, along with team members Gizem Yildirim and Meruyert Makhatova, submitted a project called, “Innovative Design for CO2-EOR Storage to Reduce Carbon Footprints in Petroleum Industry.”

Prasad Honored with MLK, Jr. Recognition Award

Congratulations to Dr. Manika Prasad for being honored with the 2022 Martin Luther King, Jr., Recognition Award.

The award is granted for being committed to diversity and leadership in creating a welcoming and inclusive Mines campus.

Dr. Prasad sits on the Department’s Diversity, Inclusion & Access committee and has a long history advocating for equity both at Mines and in the professional organizations in which she has been involved.

Congratulations on thesis defense!

Congratulations to  Similoluwa Adebusola Oduwole (Simi) for successfully defending her thesis titled, “Reservoir analysis of a CO2 sequestration site: Experiment-guided field scale modeling”. Simi graduates this December with a M.S. in Petroleum Engineering.

CRFM Co-director Dr. Manika Prasad and her colleague from Ft. Hays State University Dr. Hendratta Ali recently published an editorial on “Rank and Representation in the Geosciences.” The editorial examines representation in 10 of the top universities for geosciences and discusses the consequences of a lack of inclusion.
