After obtaining his bachelor’s degree in geophysics from Virginia Tech, Ali worked as an exploration geophysicist for seven years in the oil and gas industry. As a petroleum prospector, he has diverse experience applying various geophysical methods to to successfully identify and discover hydrocarbon reserves. His research interests are in advanced rock physics techniques and quantitative seismic interpretation to accurately derive rock properties, identify fluids, and understand seismic signatures. Outside of work, he loves traveling, board games, and spending time with his family.
