Benjamin Kenney graduated from the University of Georgia with a double major in Physics and Geology. During his undergraduate studies, he was in research projects in both hydrogeology and GIS. The goal of these projects was to understand the effects of large storm events on Georgia’s barrier islands, their surficial aquifers, and their delicate ecosystems. This research provided Benjamin with valuable experience in ArcGIS, hydro field work, time series analysis, and conceptual modeling of time- and density-variable, heterogeneous systems.
Benjamin wants to continue his environmental work by pursuing research opportunities in carbon sequestration, utilizing his background in subsurface flow modeling and theoretical physics. He is particularly interested in the use of machine learning to identify the optimal pore-scale conditions for carbon mobilization and crystallization.
